A timebank is a social, community building network of people who are serving each others needs by using their time as a currency. Basically, person A performs a service for person B and instead of being paid in money is paid in time dollars, one dollar for each hour of service. Then person A may go into the timebank community and find person C who is offering a service he needs and pay for it using the time dollars he just earned. The beauty of the timebank system is that you don’t need to directly reciprocate services to those who have served you, your hours have become a liquid currency.
